Opportunity

Requirements

  • Takes initiative and proactively works to seize opportunities and solve emerging challenges
  • Comfortable and committed to effective and consistent communication with the rest of the WEPOWER team
  • Have transportation, but most work will be done virtually due to COVID
  • Able to work up to 20 hours per week including some day and evening shifts
  • Open to using technology such as a laptop, iPad, Zoom, and Google Documents
  • Attend weekly check-ins on Mondays from 2:30pm - 4:00pm

Coordinator Goals

Supporting achieving a tangible champaign win:

  • Lead process of listening deeply to community through a minimum of 50 one-on-ones, several house meetings, and sometimes through survey collection
  • Contact 100% of voters in target areas assigned
  • Confirm a minimum of 75 attendees to any campaign actions

Responsibilities

Listen to community and build a powerful coalition: (50%)

Engage the community to build relationships, surface issues, and identify and engage leaders. Some ways to do this include the following:

  • Identify community members to engage and schedule and coordinate outreach efforts
  • Prepare for and engage in one-on-ones, house meetings, and surveying to surface educational and economic issues in target communities, and support changemakers with doing the same
  • Track relationships and feedback from one-on-ones, house meetings, and surveys
  • Continuously re-engage and support other changemakers with re-engaging community members to invite them to actions, learn more about the campaign, to recruit them as leaders and train them on organizing, and to activate them to build a base of campaign supporters
  • Continuously build awareness about the campaign through creative outreach efforts
  • Drive turnout to campaign actions through sending texts, emails, and phone calls to invite and remind supporters to attend actions, prepare for actions, and follow-up with attendees after actions

Leader a voter engagement team: (50%)

Manage voter engagement of some priority neighborhoods leading up to November 2020

  • Recruit campaign supporters to become volunteers for phone banking and door knocking efforts
  • Train and support changemakers and other volunteers with phone banking and door knocking to educate voters on issues on the ballot in November 2020
  • Train and support changemakers and volunteers with voter registration
  • Manage data entry of results from changemakers and volunteers door knocking and phone banking efforts
